March For Life 2012 and Planned Parenthood Event

Hi everyone, MCCL's March for Life 2012 at the St.Paul,MN State Capitol was good! Thank you for your prayers! Due to limited time only one testimony was allowed. Mary Johnson, Silent No More MN speaker was able to share her testimony to about 4,000 in attendance. That's Mary, Ann Marie Cosgrove and me in the picture. It's cool to see kids and teens there with their signs CHOOSE LIFE. They are the next generation. The march clearly educates us all.

Immediately after the March for Life we headed to another pro-life event at the new mega-Planned Parenthood facility located at the corner of Vandalia St/St.Charles Avenue. Pro-Life Action Ministries sponsored this event. There were 4 of us from Silent No More MN. Mary and I shared our testimonies. We also heard from other local pastors, priests and pro-life organization leaders that day. Then we peaceably marched, prayed and sang praise songs.

The workbook was developed over the last 2 1/2 years by taking 6 groups of women through the 10 week biblically based course. March For Life MN 2009 This year we attended the March for Life 2009 at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul, MN. Thursday, January 22nd, marked the 36th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States.

The events of the march went very smoothly. There were between 4 and 5 thousand people in attendance that peaceably made their voice heard. However, instead of covering the march, the media chose to emphasize a story of a man who ran his car violently into the Planned Parenthood building in St. Paul that same day. It was inspiring to hear Governor Tim Pawlenty, Senator Norm Coleman and MCCL representative Bill Poehler speak. MCCL stands for Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life. They all spoke with a clear understanding of the pro-life issues. Gov. Pawlenty encouraged us to not give up but “to keep going by working on changing one heart and mind at a time, then the laws will follow.”

For the first time MCCL was combining it’s program with Silent No More MN. In the picture above you can see about 30 of us, men and women who are part of Silent No More MN. We stood on the front steps during the MCCL program holding our signs, “I regret my abortion” and “I regret lost fatherhood.” After the outside program ended we went inside to the Capitol Rotunda to hear the Silent No More MN program of men and women sharing their post-abortive testimonies. The Capitol Rotunda was packed with people to hear us. After I shared my testimony, we (Jeff and I) had appointments with Senator David Hann and State Representative Jenifer Loon. Those appointments also went well as we encouraged them to fight for life.

In January I was able to attend the March for Life 2008 in Washington DC. The trip was very impactful. I plan to share more details in the next upcoming newsletter. An Amazing Journey

Thanks to all of you for your prayers – I really appreciated the support. God is good and it was an amazing trip. I’ve listed a few highlights to share with you:

Day 1 – Plans changed, thru a series of illnesses and circumstances I found myself in a position of assistant to the Co-Founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign - Georgette Forney. Assisting Georgette allowed me to see the entire event from a leadership perspective.

Georgette invited me to share my testimony along with her and a couple others in a professionally produced film done by a former ABC correspondent. The film will be used as a fund raiser for the pro-life movement.

I was able to network with the Giants of the movement – Dr. Theresa Burke, Dr. Alveda King, Norma Roe, Father Frank Pavone, Nellie Gray and others. These are people I’ve read about but never thought I would meet in person.

The Youth Rally was inspiring – I estimate there were around 200 youth gathered from around the country. Our group received a rock star welcome. I was impressed that the youth were not afraid of transparent testimony rather the reverse they wanted the truth. They had many questions for us after we shared.

Day 2 – We held the meeting in the Senate Building. I saw tremendous unity in the body of Christ as leaders from all different groups came together with the Senators. Each one respected the other for the common cause of Life. Christian, Jew, Orthodox, Reformed, Black, White there was unity.

President Bush – changed his plans at the last minute. Since it was his last year in office, he invited several top pro-life leaders to be with him at the White House. He sent taped remarks to the Senate Building where I was gathered.

God told me I would be a pillar for righteousness– I didn’t know that he meant that literally. Right before the march began Georgette asked me to stand on the platform behind the Senators who were speaking out to the masses. So on C-Span you see me walking out there and standing like a pillar during the speeches. As far as you could see the streets were filled with marchers. It was cold and sleeting most of the day while we were marching. I was impressed, the leaders marched along side of us, they didn’t just talk. Presidential candidates, Senators, Religious Leaders all were acting on their words by marching the several miles.

At the steps of the Supreme Court, I was able to share my testimony. We had to shout above the pro-death protestors. It was a powerful time for me personally to know this was the place that it all began. I found it particularly interesting that Norma Roe was with us. She was there at the beginning when abortion was legalized. She is now pro-life and has published a book entitled Won By Love. All of us as a group all prayed Lord let us change history. For Norma, she had the opportunity to pray let me change history again.

FYI - I wanted to let you know of a change that has taken place regarding the After Recovery Group. We will be meeting on Tuesday nights instead of Thursdays. Here is information about the new After Recovery Group that will be starting this fall. If you know someone who would benefit from attending this abortion recovery class please forward this email information to them. Thank you for your time.

All women who have had an abortion are welcome. It doesn't matter if your abortion was recent or a long time ago. You are encouraged to attend. Group membership is fixed the first week so that participants complete the entire course and for confidentiality reasons. Those interested in the group after it has started are asked to call and sign up in advance for the next group that is offered.
